VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
There are volunteer opportunities available for anyone who wants to help serve the Winn Gardens community. Below are the current opportunities; please contact Joel Hamer for more information - communitypioneer@stjb.org.uk
Foodbank Ambassador
As a foodbank ambassador, you will speak with foodbank clients to understand their situation and to signpost them to the right people to get the help they need.
You are the listening ears for the foodbank clients and will welcome them to foodbank sessions and spend time speaking with them each week.
Foodbank volunteers are required between 10am and 1pm on Thursdays.
Joyful Connections (Baby & Toddler Group) Helper
Our Baby and Toddler Group is for parents and guardians of children aged 0 - 5 as well as for the older people on the estate to encourage inter-generational relationships, and reduce isolation.
Volunteers will help with set up and set down, preparing a simple lunch for attendees, and building relationships with families and older people from Winn Gardens.
Volunteers will be required between 10:30 and 12:30 on Tuesdays during term time.
Walker & Talker
As a walker and talker you will help to provide a space for residents on the estate to have conversations and to enjoy nature.
At times, you will be responsible for leading the walk and for coming up with some questions to be asked during the walk.
Walks take place between 10 and 11:30am on Fridays.
Youth Basketball Session Assistant
Youth Basketball will provide a space for secondary school children to play basketball in a formalised setting each week.
Volunteers will assist in leading simple basketball sessions, including some skills training, and will build relationships with the young people.
Volunteers will be required between 3:45 and 5pm on Fridays during term time.
The Call (Kids Club) Helper
As a kids club volunteer you will be part of a team getting to know the children of the Winn Gardens estate, assisting with set up and set down of sessions, and helping with activities during the session.
At the moment, we are especially looking for female volunteers to assist alongside our current volunteer team.
Kids Club volunteers will be required between 3 and 5pm on Tuesdays during term time.
Community Cafe Assistant
Our Community Cafe space will run out of one of our foodbank rooms to provide space for conversations, bible study, games, and tea & toast.
Volunteers will assist with making refreshments, as well as building relationships with people attending, and contributing to bible studies.
Days and times TBC.
