Proclaim and demonstrate the reality of God’s Kingdom;
make disciples and lead them to become wholehearted followers of Christ.
Rooted in the Great Commandment - love as Jesus loved, and the Great Commission - go make disciples, we seek to ensure that all we are and all we do serves the vision.
What we do and how we do it:
Invest in Relationship - through CONNECT Ministries
As we connect with people through different aspects of service, there is an open door to invest in relationships 1/1. There are many ‘Connect Ministries’ at St John’s, through which we engage with and serve the wider community.
Invite to Community - through BRIDGE Ministries
Easily accessible, bridge-building events are a good way for many people to take a step closer to God. Our passion is to live as an open community that embraces others - a community among whom the love of God is seen and presence and fragrance of Jesus is experienced.
Inspire to enquire - through TELL Ministries
Investing in intentional relationship leads people to be inspired to enquire; this may involve anything from sharing life stories and testimony to giving an invitation to our enquirer’s course – ‘The Big Ask’.
Involve in Discipleship - through EQUIP Ministries
We seek to involve in discipleship all those who come to faith in Jesus. This means establishing firm foundations in new disciples and helping every member to grow to maturity and become involved in our shared mission.
All we do is rooted in four foundational values
We seek to nurture Kingdom values and develop a Christ-centred life-style.
As these values are embedded into our lives so they become the touch-stone for the things that really matter.
Value the Kingdom
Prioritise Jesus’ priority
Do what Jesus said to do
“Seek first the Kingdom of God” Matthew 6:33
Developing a culture of prayer first
Pray at all times. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” Philippians 4:6
Value God’s resources
Live in the Holy Spirit’s empowering
“Look to the Lord and His strength, seek His face always” Psalm 105:4
People matter to God
Investing in people for the Kingdom
“… to love your neighbour as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices” Mark 12:3
The expression of God’s Kingdom is validated as we live Christ-centred and God dependent lives.
These four values reflect core essentials of Kingdom living and have an immediate impact on our life and ministry. As they are embedded in the very culture and life-style of the church, they help us to be intentional in our discipleship and lead to an expression of God’s Kingdom that is validated by what we say and do.
