Reimagining Prayer in 2018

New Year New Beginning

In 2018 we will be sharing some new and exciting developments in the life of St John’s. We will be looking at new structures at St John’s that will help us operate more effectively as the Body of Christ – we will be sharing more fully the amazing diversity of mission and ministry that is unfolding – and in the Spring we will be in a place to bring significant momentum the church extension project!

A new season of fruitfulness

We are moving into a time when it seems God is leading us into a new and fruitful season of mission in which He is looking to release His Kingdom blessing among us.

In recent weeks, the Lord has opened some amazing doors for the Gospel that will see us engaging with the wider community in ways that will take us into a whole new dimension of mission. BUT to do these things, one thing must be central in our life together as a church – PRAYER!

My passion is to see 2018 be a year that is soaked in prayer
and drenched in a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit

Changes to our prayer pattern
As part of our on-going endeavour to develop a culture of putting ‘Prayer First’, we will be changing the way we pray together as a church.

24/7 Prayer
2018 will see us starting with a week of prayer in church – 24/7! The church will become a prayer space that is covered continually, 24 hours a day, for 7 days. This will involve prayer throughout the day and night – a prayer vigil to intercede, to listen to God and to seek His presence. Watch out for news of this in the coming weeks.

‘Prayer FIRST’

Monthly week-night gathering
Each month there will be a midweek prayer evening. These ‘Prayer FIRST’ gatherings will be held in church.

They will be on a different night each month so that everyone will have opportunity to participate.
There will be no Small Group meetings on the weeks when we hold the ‘Prayer FIRST’ gatherings.
We aim to make this an exciting and dynamic time of prayer – that will become the ‘have to be there’ event of the month!

‘Prayer FIRST’ evenings will be filled with different and imaginative ways of praying that will enable everyone to connect and to participate in a way that is right for them. They will include a time of worship, creative and inspirational ways to pray and intercede, time to wait on the Lord in stillness, hearing from God and sharing prophetic words.

Are you someone with a passion for prayer?  You are invited to help plan the 24/7 prayer and initial ‘Prayer FIRST’ gathering …

Monday 11th December 7.45pm at the Vicarage

Come along and contribute ideas that will make this the most amazing time together! BUT we will pray first!

“Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always”. Psalm 105:4

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours”.    Matthew 11:24
