Football, and sport in general, is a great opportunity for fellowship and witness. At St John’s there are a few ways for men to get involved in football and you would be more than welcome to join us, no matter what ability.
Firstly we have SJFC. SJFC is our 5-a-side football team – although we have been known to play 6-a-side, 11-a-side and even 1 game of 12-a-side. We are currently playing in a local five-a-side league at Concorde Sports Centre, run by Match Night. You can check our progress on the Match-Night site by going to our league page. The 5-a-side team has it’s very own mini site where you can read match reports, find player profiles and catch up on all the latest news.
Secondly there is Sheffield Trinity FC – an exciting new collaboration between St John’s Church and Christ Church, Wadsley Bridge. Trinity play 11-a-side football and have recently begun their first season as part of the Sheffield & District Fair Play League which kicked off in September. Results have not been great so far but the team is getting better!
If you would like more information on football at St John’s, would like to get involved, or would like to play against us please contact Andy Hoyland.
